Has Nasa operations used Apple computers ever?
Apple computers are used for operations in cape canaveral or in texas? Apple computers are used for operations on the moon? Apple computers have been used for calculating the distance from earth to mars?
I remember reading an article a few years ago about some big contract Microsoft had with NASA.
I don’t know for sure and perhaps another answerer will, but I would guess a company like NASA would have some but few uses for Apple products. Linux and Unix have their purposes and are surely also used by some department.
Microsoft and Windows products are used by practically all businesses, companies, government agencies. And for good reason – if NASA needs a new program developed they want to hire programmers that develop software that everyone can use, not just a proprietary few. Not as many software engineers are trained in working with apple systems, and an apple specialist would be more difficult to hire because of their specialized training.
If fact Apple actually pays some companies to use exclusively apple products as a means of promotion and advertisement. I imagine a company could make a lot of money that way really. Their advertising campaign is very broad in its reach – almost any apple computer you see on television is there as a paid advertisement.
